A short video (unedited) of the Sparrowhawk seen in my garden.

From about 7am there were about 30 Jackdaws making such a noise flying over & around my house. According to my neighbour he could see them trying to chase off a Sparrowhawk that had taken one of the "family". The noise eventually stopped & nearly 2 hours later my husband noticed the Sparrowhawk in our garden devouring the bird.

We could only take photos through the window as we did not wish to scare it away & as we clicked it kept turning its head towards the house looking for the source of the noise. It stayed about 30 mins & then flew off with the remains of breakfast in its claws.

Statistics
Length: 33cm
Wingspan: 62cm
Weight: 150-260g
Average lifespan: 4 years

Sorry for all of you who may have already viewed several photos taken by Richard, he's just faster at editing or could it be more spare time.😉

I went back to Shell Bay last night to see if I could improve my video skills - still needs work as you will see but this video is longer.

There were less birds (& people) & I think the gathering is coming close to finishing - it's been happening at this point for about 2 weeks.

The weather was not as good as my last visit & the birds were keeping lower, much closer to the trees so the effect is not quite as obvious.

Hope you enjoy despite all the faults.

3 very short videos of the Starling murmuration at Shell Bay Nr Poole Dorset.

My video skills need a lot of work (abysmal I admit), first time I've done one but I'm sure you'll get the idea.

There were a few hundred people waiting to see this as the starlings had been there for a week or so. We were just about to leave, thinking they had changed location, when they started gathering - it is mesmerising to watch. Then I glanced down at my camera & they had gone - within seconds they had dropped into the trees & all you could hear was their chatter.
