A bit of a departure for me from landscapes and farm scenes! This is the lovely village of Ronda in Southern Spain. This busker lit a cigarette and I thought it give that 60's pop culture feel to the photo. Shot wide open to blut the background a little. Not so many people about in February which allowed an unobstructed shot. I will also try a B&W process to see how that looks.

This blacksmith's forge was a real Aladdin's cave and good for an environmental portrait like this. These were holes in the roof to let the smoke out but this also let some nice light in to dapple the floor. I also like the way the flame gives some nice orange light. The location is the Ulster American Folk Park at Omagh, County Tyrone. Open wide at f2.8 and ISO 1000 to get a reasonable shutter speed as a "cave" also best describes the lighting. I thought flash would just spoil the atmosphere so just had to put up with some noise. Should I have gone mono? My own thinking was that I didn't want to lose the orange glow from the furnace.

And now for something completely different....70-200 IS L at f4.0 for this. Don't you just love the bokeh of this lens? Liked the backlighting and of course the smile in this candid style shot. Slight retouching and cloning out the odd hair in Photoshop CS5 as well as Portrait Professional. Hair coming down a little too much over one eye but hope it doesn't take away from it too much,
