Quite possibly the one car which perfectly summed up the glitz and glamour of the U.S. auto industry in the 1950's and also its excesses and uber confidence must surely be the 1959 Cadillac Series 62 or simply '59 Caddy as most people call it. It has been modelled many many times over by various diecast manufacturers including this one by M2 Machines. All those design icons are present in super crisp form such as those truly outrageous rear tail fins and chrometastic bumpers, in fact the only thing subtle about this model is its subdued cream colour which has avoided the predictable pink which is widely associated with this vehicle. Clearly aimed at the premium 1/64 end of the market its attention to detailing is consumate with its adult aimed target audience and features many separate parts. Bought from a Wal-Mart which out of all the retailers I visited on my U.S. trip was by far the best at seeking out this type of diecast. Mint and boxed.
