Discovering new toy makers has been made a lot easier for me since I discovered AliExpress. One of them is Mei Sheng who make a small range of unlicensed but fairly accurate looking vehicles some of which are copies of Realtoy castings. This Hummer H1 appears to be one of those Realtoy copies which is no bad thing as it looks realistic and captures the chunky utilitarian styling of the real vehicle. Part of a four vehicle set. Judging by other Mei Sheng this is probably actually copied from the Realtoy GMC Sierra but that of course was copied by the original Matchbox version. This tow truck has been copied by quite a lot of obscure Chinese toy makers with varying degrees of success and to be fair this Mei Sheng example is pretty ok with a crisp casting and legible Police livery. Possibly based on a 1980's Ford Econoline is this Police Advanced Detachment vehicle by Mei Sheng. Not actually that bad in terms of casting quality and detailing with fully retracting searchlights on the roof, certainly an interesting and unusual alternative to the usual Mattel products which dominate most U.K. stores. My interest in collecting cheapo Chinese diecasts means I get to discover new and pretty obscure brands and models. Not all of course are as nice as an equivalent Matchbox or Welly for example but it does mean an interesting range and some charming copies. This is the second Mei Sheng Crown Victoria I have managed to find and I love the fact it is a blatant copy of the Realtoy version though of course this is of slightly less quality. Part of a four vehicle set bought directly from China. Mint and boxed.

As this is an unlicensed casting I am guessing this based on an older Dodge Durango but i'm not 100%. Made by the pretty unknown toy maker of Mei Sheng it is of pretty acceptable quality, certainly no worse than say something HTI would make. Part of a five vehicle set. Mint and boxed.
