Although I would have loved to see shelves overflowing with Welly, RMZ City and Realtoy on my latest visit to the Chinese bazaars of Sitges it seems those days have gone. My favourite store had indeed restocked with 1/64 diecasts after a hiatus which lasted quite some months and it was back to the typical low end unlicensed fodder such as this.
Made by Kai Yang Da it looks to be based on a Ferrari F430 and is part of a relatively acceptable range of unlicensed supercars they make. A bit of painted detailing here and there along with a detachable roof at least show a little bit of effort has gone into it even if it ultimately won't leave Maisto and Bburago with any sleepless nights! ;-p

Previously available here in the U.K. a few years back in twin sets at Poundland but now hitting the Chinese bazaars of Sitges are the range of unlicensed supercars by Kai Yang Da.
Seemingly not confined by the trivial matter of licensing agreements, Kai Yang Da produce amongst other this Ferrari California. No one is ever going to pretend this is scale model quality, its aspirations are a lot lower than that but as a budget diecast it looks realistic enough with a metal body, typical Ferrari red colour and an interior plus the odd bit of painted external detailing.
Its easy to mock products like this but here in the U.K. where our shelves and pegs are dominated by naff generic HTI tat I know which range I would prefer to buy!

Some of the more obscure and interesting products from the massive Chinese diecast toy makers can now be easier to find thanks to websites such as AliExpress and even good old Ebay. I recently purchased four different versions of this charming Subaru Sambar based mobile food vans made by the snappily named Kai Yang Da Toys. It is clearly just a blatant Tomica copy but thats certainly no bad thing and in this case it certainly isn't a bit of cheap tat. It is well constructed and nicely detailed and unusually for a copy it even has the original style opening cargo doors at the rear and sides. Mint and boxed.

I managed to get four different versions of this cute little mobile food van from AliExpress recently though annoyingly you can also buy them directly from China on Ebay and they work out at HALF the price and thats inclusive of postage! GRRR!
Anyway, you'd be forgiven for thinking this was a Tomica model but is in fact made by Kai Yang Da Toys and is indeed a very good copy with a nice crisp though naturally unlicensed Subaru Sambar based cab and fully opening cargo doors on three sides. Mint and boxed.

Adorable little model of a Subaru Sambar based mobile food van made by Kai Yang Da Toys of China. This of course is the most blatant of Tomica copies but that is why I love it and although naturally it costs less than the original this is no inferior equivalent. Not only is it well built and nicely finished but it also shares the Tomica versions opening side and rear compartments. Bought directly from China of course ;-)
