I have to admire the barefaced cheek of various Chinese toy manufacturers who take their "inspiration" from other better known brands. Traditionally it used to be the likes of Tomica and Matchbox but now it seems Hot Wheels is the hot favourite judging by items like this. The Hot Wheels Lamborghini Murcielago has been given a new lease of life thanks to a company called LR who have quite a sizeable range of HW copies which are of a decent level of quality. This extremely blingtastic chrome gold finish signifies it is part of their Speed Racing GT series and at least offers a finish not normally seen on Mattel products, its well applied and although there is no tampo treatment to lights its a realistic enough casting. Not surprisingly it was bought directly from China. Mint and boxed.

Shameless in its copied wheel design, shameless in its copied casting, shameless in its use of the Ferrari emblem on the packaging and shameless in its Fast & Furious style typeface is this Ferrari 458 Italia by a Chinese toy manufacturer called LR. Part of its Hot Wheels "influenced" range of 1/64 diecasts this little 458 continues where HW stalled due to Mattel losing its Ferrari licensing deal and although naturally this is indeed unlicensed only the lack of any badging gives it away. Quality wise its very much on a par with the original featuring a robust metal body and realistic styling complete with tampo front headlamps. Its just a shame they had to copy those wheels too! Bought directly from China back in January 2017. Mint and boxed.

LR's Speed Racing GT series is basically a handful of their castings being given the chrome plated paint effect and completely transforming their appearance. I'm not a fan of overtly bling finishes or add ons on diecasts but this Porsche 911 GT3 RS and others in this range do actually look pretty desirable. Outlandish colour scheme aside this is clearly a copy of the original Hot Wheels right down to the wheel designs and unusually for a Chinese knock off the quality is commendably good with a great weighty feeling and flawless paint finish. Bought directly from China. Mint and boxed.

There appears to be no limit to what Chinese toy makers will copy, even the mighty Mattel isn't safe with both its HW and MBX ranges routinely copied by obscure manufacturers from that country and often with very mixed results. Out of all the brands i've discovered over the last 12 months or so the ones which are sold under the LR name appear to be the best quality, so much so that they could easily be mistaken for a bona fide licensed HW product. I managed to pick up a few of these Porsche 918 Spyders and they certainly don't disappoint with their quality metal bodies and thoughtful detailing, the only thing which spoils it is the use of those dreadful five spoke wheels which I don't like seeing on the originals! Bought directly from China back in January. Mint and boxed.

Such a hugely expensive and outrageously fast car such as the Pagani Huayra certainly deserves this equally outrageous chrome gold paint finish. Free from any worries of offending Pagani licensors, LR, the Chinese toy company who makes this little diecast can use whatever colour they like and are seemingly not too concerned that its a blatant Hot Wheels copy either right down to those unique five spoke wheels! No interior sadly but overall a decent little model which is well made and realistically cast. Part of their blingtastic Speed Racing GT series and bought directly from China. Mint and boxed.
