Porsches hot four door supercar has naturally been modelled by a great many toy manufacturers in 1/64 scale over the last few years. One of the latest appears to be from Playmind where it fits very nicely into their budget line up. If you can get past those slightly iffy generic wheels you'll find a suitably smooth and well appointed little model complete with full badging and a factory accurate interior. Much MUCH better than the HW equivalent!

Finding non HTI generics here in the U.K. is getting increasingly difficult in many many retailers so its always heartening to find much nicer alternatives for the same price. TK Maxx have come up with the goods with an unexpected shipment of Playmind products which they are currently filling their shelves and pegs with courtesy of various sized multi-packs. I initially discovered their products last year on a trip to the States where I found a lone five vehicle set in a remote Dollar General store and presumed id never see them this side of the Atlantic again.
Budget but licensed, their range is satisfyingly large and includes little gems like this 2005 Ford GT. Just as nicely proportioned as an MBX equivalent it comes finished in an authentic white colour complete with nicely applied stripes and badging. Mint and boxed.

Until I get lucky enough to find any of the new Majorette Premium Nissan GT-R's which are floating about in various Home Bargains, resplendent in their metallic Burnt Orange colour, I will just have to settle for this Playmind version instead. It would be unfair to compare the two as under normal circumstances they would be priced completely different, this being the obvious budget alternative. You won't find clear plastic lenses, suspension or opening features here but for an honest pocket money item there really isn't much to complain about. Its wheels are a bit generic and cheapo but otherwise its licensed glamour with a good representation of this modern iconic supercar right down to external painted detailing and an accurate interior. An iconic 1960's racing legend rebooted for the new Millennium and one which quite naturally caught the attention of many toy makers was the 2005 Ford GT. Looking every bit as handsome and muscular as the Italians this retro flavoured high performance car proudly wore its FORD badging as it does here on this notably smaller and certainly cheaper diecast alternative.
Made by Playmind LTD its part of quite a sizeable range of licensed lower end models designed to compete with the likes of Motormax and Maisto and for that purpose it certainly impresses. Its wheels are really the only obvious sign of cost cutting, everything else is reassuringly well cast and well detailed.

Officially this model is a Toyota 86 but here we call them GT86 and who in their right mind would call a car an "86"! Made by a pretty new company called Playmind its a fully licensed budget diecast which really does look very clean and unadorned in this plain red colour. Effort has clearly gone into this little sports coupe with silver painted external detailing and an interior which most definitely would put your average Mattel product to shame.
