For a vehicle which was in production for just short of 50 years its surprising how few 1/64 models are available of the mighty M35 Truck. The majority of them in my collection are unlicensed Chinese efforts such as this one made by a company called Xin Mei Qi and is almost certainly a copy of the original Realtoy casting though available in many more different body styles than the original. This model is unashamedly low end but still manages to capture the no nonsense utilitarian styling of the original vehicle and is suitably crisply cast too. Part of a 20 vehicle set bought directly from China. Mint and boxed.

The products of Xin Mei Qi may never win awards for quality or realism but they are usually good honest products sold at very cheap prices and represent easily identifiable real vehicles even if the products themselves arn't officially licensed items. This Police van is a neat representation of a Ford Econoline and is essentially a copy of the Pioneer original even down to its use of clear plastic for the headlamps which are worthy additions to a budget diecast. Part of a large 20 vehicle set bought directly from China. Mint and boxed.

The Ford Econoline van in all its previous incarnations has long been very popular with toy makers especially ones based in the Far East no doubt due to the real vehicles popularity in one of the biggest diecast markets in the World. Most of these models are unlicensed castings and of variable quality but I would say this one by Xin Mei Qi Toys is pretty decent and looks very much like its been copied from Pioneer who also use small pieces of clear plastic for headlamps. A fully metal body with an interior and a separate light bar actually show Mattel what can be done even with a strict budget and very low purchase price! Part of a 20 vehicle set. Mint and boxed.

Whilst the Hot Wheels brand is a gigantic unstoppable force Worldwide the 1/64 diecast market is still truly vast enough to support untold numbers of different manufacturers notably based in the Far East and I am discovering new and interesting ranges all the time. Xin Mei Qi Toys of China is one company i've only discovered in the last 12 months and although their products will never win awards for quality or astute realism they do have a fairly extensive range of unlicensed castings which are often copies of Realtoy and Pioneer. This very chunky old school SUV is almost certainly based on a Ford Bronco II which has had its front end softened a little to avoid licensing issues. Quality is not too bad for its budget status and looks fairly authentic in this Fire Dept. livery. Part of a 20 vehicle set bought directly from China. Mint and boxed.

It would be easy to write off this cheapo Chinese Petrol Tanker model as being nothing more than a generic but closer inspection reveals its actually based on the American M35 which unbelievably was in production from 1950 right up until 1999! Its very simple rugged styling is very much of its era but still translates well in model form even today and when used by low end toy makers such as Xin Mei Qi who produce it in a number of different body styles and liveries. Crisply cast with plenty of squared off folded panels and a chrome effect rear tanker. Part of a 20 vehicle set bought directly from China. Mint and boxed.
