After spending over two weeks on a road trip holiday to the U.S. and visiting many different stores on the look out for diecasts all I can say is the average American 1/64 collector must have immense self restraint not to buy themselves into bankruptcy! The choice and diversity of brands and ranges is truly immense and was certainly an eye opener for me especially considering everything I bought was from mainstream stores as opposed to specialised model shops. I tried to find as many different brands as I could find including the delights of the M2 Machine range of which I saw plenty in the various Wal-Marts that I visited. There was no way I could buy everything and so had to settle for the most desirable which in this instance included this mean and moody looking 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS 427 which looks particularly appealing in this crisp white finish. For its "premium" pricing the use of many separate parts is evident along with some remarkable levels of exquisite detailing and a weighty full metal body which feels a World away from the MBX and HW i'm used to. Mint and boxed.

After two weeks in America i'm now finally back to show off my many diecast purchases and to say what a huge and varied choice you guys have over there. Collectors always lust after things they can't get and so although collectors on the other side of the pond wish they could get Siku and Majorette in their Wal-Marts and Targets everyone else wishes they could pop down to their local supermarket and pick up amazing little 1/64 diecasts like this glorious 1958 Chevrolet Impala. Made by Castline for their iconic M2 Machine brand this really is a premium collectors 1/64 diecast which for the equivalent of less than five Pounds absolutely amazes me in its realism and accuracy. Beautifully finished in every aspect it is highly detailed from its gleaming wheels to super crisp looking bodywork and makes me thankful I live in the U.K. otherwise I would quickly be bankrupt! Bought from one of very many Wal-Marts I visited. Mint and boxed.

After some years of enviously seeing the products of M2 Machine being displayed on various U.S. based diecast websites I finally had the opportunity to buy them off the pegs on my recent trip to the States where they were hanging freely in Wal-Mart stores, a place I became quite familiar over two weeks ;-)
Like Greenlight and Auto World, and Racing Champions the M2 Machine series are pitched at the premium end of the diecast market and are most certainly not aimed at children. The difference between this 1969 Plymouth Barracuda and the equivalent '68 Hot Wheels equivalent is startling though admittedly so they should at over five times the price! Its premium standing ensures top notch accuracy to all aspects of this vehicle from its tyres upwards with bundles of great detailing thanks to the use of many separate parts. All we need now is for someone like Oxford Diecasts or Corgi to rise to the challenge.... Mint and boxed.

As if it wasn't hard enough having to select which diecasts I could take and what to leave behind on the pegs due to baggage restrictions I then discovered the M2 Machine Auto Drivers range which from what I could gather is their entry level budget series. I decided to take this 1957 Chrysler 300C which may ultimately lack the extreme levels of detailing its more expensive brothers receive but it still impressed me massively with its collector grade all metal body, lovely wheels and super crisp casting. I'm obviously a sucker for 50's U.S. glamour, glitz and a whacking great pair of tail fins!
Mint and boxed.

Somehow I managed to fit into my two suitcases all my diecast purchases from a recent two week trip to the States but trust me if id had a third suitcase then no doubt a lot more would have come with me! ;-)
To say I was overwhelmed by the choice of great 1/64 models on offer in all the stores I visited would be a huge understatement ranging from the budget to the more premium adult themed stuff from companies such as M2 Machines. Hanging next to the usual Hot Wheels ranges in the toy aisle of Target was this stunning 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 and for a few Dollars more than said HW you suddenly get a lot more realism and detailing. So much so that all those separate parts used needed an 8+ year age restriction on purchasing it and clearly shows that this isn't designed to be a toy enjoyed by youngsters! The colour scheme looks a little queasy matching pink with brown though i'm sure its age appropriate and does little to dampen the overall crispness of this model. Mint and boxed.
