An old name revived by the makers of Maisto is the old Italian Polistil brand. So far they only seem to be appearing on cheap models such as this blatant Tomica copied Hino Ranger Rescue Truck III Type Fire Engine. To be fair this is actually a good quality copy with a decent feeling of quality and sturdy moving parts. May Cheong have also recently revived the Bburago name too so it will be interesting to see the direction of the once great Polistil name. Bought from a large out of town toy shop in Sitges Spain November 2015. Mint and boxed.

The iconic Italian Polistil brand is back thanks to the company behind Maisto. Strangely none of the castings which have appeared have used Maisto castings but ones borrowed from other companies within the May Cheong group. Some are pretty high quality Tomica copies but there is also some more typical cheapo Chinese stuff like this cement mixing truck. This is a pretty old fashioned looking truck which I have no idea what real vehicle its based on though I imagine this actual casting has been made for some years under other brand names. I discovered this and other new 1/64 Polistil models on my last visit to Sitges in November. Mint and boxed.

The once glorious Italian manufacturer of Polistil disappeared in 1993 but the name has very recently been relaunched by of all people the May Cheong Group, the company behind the Maisto brand. Strangely the small 1/64 models I have seen haven't been rebadged Maisto diecasts as expected but looked to have been made by other companies possibly within the May Cheong Group. This is a very good quality copy of the Tomica UD Trucks Quon tanker with Tomica levels of detailing and overall finish, even the wheels look pretty similar. The Polistil name quite rightly is very pronounced on the packaging though the actual manufacturer is also stated in very small wording as Most Success Trading LTD. Bought this weekend on my last trip to Sitges in Spain this year and where I managed to discover one very big Chinese bazaar and out of town toy warehouse! Very happy! ;-)
Mint and boxed.
