When paying just 77p for a diecast and THAT INCLUDES POSTAGE FROM CHINA, naturally your expectations are shall we say, very low! I certainly wasn't expecting a fully licensed Toyota Crown Athlete Hybrid complete with a nice array of detailing, glossy metallic finish and stylised alloy effect wheels. Well for 77p it represents astonishing value though of course for that price there are some notable shortcomings on this cut price Tomica.
Made by a company called Linx LTD, its entire body is made of VERY lightweight plastic making it feel exceptionally flimsy and its interor...well what interior! Its glazing is just painted on so there is no doubt this is a budget item. However, for the price paid including stylised Toyota packaging, there really is no complaints.

Not the kind of colour one would expect to find on a rather conservative Toyota product but having seen the Tomica equivalent wearing this same hue of pink I am thinking maybe its a factory colour after all?
The model itself appears to be a Japanese Toyota dealership promotional item made by Linx LTD. Its well cast body laden with plenty of detailing, smart wheels and licensed status suggest its a Tomica competitor but once in hand its feather light weight tells you immediately it has been made to a very small budget. Its lack of interior is noticeable too but let's just say, at 77p including postage from China, this has to be the best bargain i've had all year! Mint and boxed.

The venerable Crown nameplate continues in the modern Japanese market looking as conservative as ever with its traditional squared up saloon styling. Hybrid technology keeps it abreast with changes and despite it not being a car ever likely to appear in the UK its smart styling cuts a dash and wouldn't look too much out of place wearing Lexus badging.
This plastic promotional model was bought recently from China and despite its budget credentials I was extremely pleased to discover that this highly detailed model was actually Toyota approved hence its fine detailing and accuracy. Its very lightweight body still manages to take a glossy paint application giving it a more premium appearance and despite its lack of interior this is definitely worth 77p of anyones money! :-)

Although I would never condone all plastic bodies and no interiors, thats one of my biggest gripes against modern Matchbox, I couldn't help feeling very smug at finding some of these models on AliExpress recently. They are indeed constructed entirely of VERY lightweight plastic with zero interiors but for 77p each you get a remarkably well cast and fully licensed Toyota Crown Athlete Hybrid complete with dealer promotional packaging. Lights, badging and grille detailing are all present along with some seriously nice wheels and a flawless glossy finish. Certainly no Tomica but definitely not your usual cheapo Chinese tat either.
