Road Champs products were usually made by other toy companies utilising existing castings but going as far as having their name stamped on the baseplates. This rather sturdy metal heavy Mack Super-Liner was in fact a Yatming product but rebadged for Road Champs. No doubt sold as a budget orientated line but with quality well above the standards of modern equivalents. Part of a Mighty Macks five vehicle set. Mint and boxed.

Avoiding the blobby mess which afflicted the Summer equivalent is this Welly produced Lancia Stratos Turbo Group 5 car. You can thank its much more crisply cast appearance on the fact surprise surprise its a copy of the Tomica original which was a fully licensed product. A decent effort for the time and price point and put them in good stead for the ensuing decades when their 1/64 range has become one of the best in the World in its market sector.
Part of a 25 vehicle Road Champs branded set. Mint and boxed.

They say imitation is the highest form of flattery which means Tomica must now have a ginormous ego! Almost from the word go their products have been shamelessly copied by other toy makers and is a practice which even continues today! More so back in the 1970's and 80's when a lot of fledgling toy makers cut their cloth on reproducing many Tomica castings in a cheapened form. There is no denying this Ferrari BB 512 has come from the Tomica stable though Welly didn't quite go so far by not including an opening rear engine compartment.
A fairly basic casting as you'd expect from a 1980's cheapie but still very much a classic Ferrari. I remember buying this casting right up until 2013/14 when they were included in cheap multi-sets at Aldi so perhaps it still remains in production for that purpose.
Found recently in a 1980's Road Champs 25 vehicle set. Mint and boxed.

You can never have too many Welly Chevrolet C-10 Stepsides which is just as well as there are three contained in the 25 vehicle Road Champs branded set I found recently ;-)
A very popular choice of vehicle for a good many Far Eastern toy makers from the 1970's onwards with this probably being one of the nicest on account of its crisp undiluted styling and Chevrolet branding though the jury is still out as to whether it was ever an approved product.
Mint and boxed.

A Welly product in all but name, the company behind the Road Champs brand used their products amongst many to sell diecast models mainly in the U.S. Definitely a product for the thrusting 1980's with this era of wedge shaped Pontiac Firebird, generic Far Eastern wheels and a dazzling metallic finish. Not officially licensed despite the Firebird emblem but pretty realistic and even stretching to opening doors too. Part of a Road Machines 25 vehicle set found in as new condition recently. Mint and boxed.
