The sixth and final Zhongqun cheapo Chinese diecast bought recently from The Works is this rather vivid bright yellow Muscle Car. I would hazard a guess its a copy of the Hot Wheels Dodge Viper SRT-10, not a faithful reproduction but something close. Theres no denying its a low end effort but enough thought has gone into it to justify its one Pound price.

I have to thank Kelvin entirely for drawing my attention to the assortment of cheap 1/64 diecasts currently available in The Works chain of stores. I fully admit it isn't a retailer I would ever think to venture in my usual pursuit of diecast hunting as its more known for books and gifts.
Alas there are no identification pointers to who actually produces them but I now believe they were made by a company called Zhongqun. Although unlicensed this is actually a pretty decent replica of the Pagani Huayra hypercar for which I will tentatively class as a Hot Wheels copy. It doesn't quite share the originals quality and full on detailing but does have a metal body and some painted features.

Hot Wheels of course dont have the monopoly on 1/64 replicas of the jaw droopingly curvy Porsche 918 Spyder but my cheapo instincts tells me this is a copy of one of their products. Its part of a small range of unlicensed models which by and large do try and replicate Mattels finest and is certainly not uncommon for modern Chinese toy makers.
Because its a copy its unlicensed status doesn't mean its not pretty accurate in its own way. There has been no real effort in disguising its origins and all the better for it meaning that apart from badging its Porsche credentials shine through abeit in a slightly more crude and basic manner. Nicely finished in a metallic grey colour, its graphics are on the subtle side of acceptable and even the headlights get a bit of detailing.
A very recent discovery thanks to Kelvin and is currently available in The Works.

Well I'm guessing this is meant to represent some kind of Ferrari. If so can anyone help identify which one as they all look the same to me these days! :-0
Finding new non Mattel and HTI 1/64 diecasts here in the U.K. is getting harder and harder as each year passes so despite its fairly basic appearance and quality I'm very glad to add it to my collection. Its never seen an official Ferrari license obviously but looks to be fairly accurate and representative of the real vehicle, whatever that might be, and can be found sold in singles or twin packs at The Works.

Believe it or not this didn't come from a Sitges Chinese bazaar nor AliExpress, nope, this fairly acceptable copy of the Hot Wheels Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was sourced in The Works. Its never been a retailer I've associated with 1/64 diecasts models thus somewhere I never visit but a purchase from a fellow Flikr enthusiast alerted me to this and others from the same toy maker. They are sold in The Works branded packaging and nothing on the baseplates accept the universal "Made In China" ;-). Typically its an unlicensed affair but is most definitely not generic, its almost certainly based on a recent Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and could well be a Hot Wheels copy. Its budget intentions are all to see with cheap looking wheels and lightweight metal body but its decently finished and more importantly, it isn't a HTI generic......
