I'm temporarily out of action. I made the mistake of touching Peggy's belly while we were both asleep in the wee small hours.
I nearly fainted.
Antibiotics, a tetanus jab, bandages, and one very smug cat.

As some of you know, I lost my sweet darling cat, Charlie, a few weeks ago. After 15 years of him being my best friend, I still miss him like mad. I can't go long without a cat friend, though.
This is Peggy. Friends found her for me at a local shelter. She'd been there since May, and was on her 3rd stay with them. Through no fault of her own, she's ended up back in the same place far too many times (owners moved away, owners split up, owner became too ill to look after her). She's 10/11 years old, she hates other cats, and she's been an indoor cat for some time (not sure how long), and those things combined meant no one had paid her much interest at the shelter. I couldn't let her languish there any longer. So home with me she came.
She settled in straight away, and slept on my bed with me the very first night. She'd been starved of attention being there since May -- not liking other cats meant she had to be kept separate from their others, and was in a pen on her own the whole time. She was ridiculously clingy for the first few days, to the point she was exhibiting in heat behaviour (she wasn't in heat though, she is spayed). She's settled down a bit now, although she's still affectionate, she loves to head-butt, and when she wakes up she gets worried where you are and needs to find you out and have some love, before settling back down again. She's been here nearly a month and she's been wedged to my side in bed every single night. She's very playful, far more so than Charlie ever was even when he was younger. She keeps me on my toes.
I think she's just really happy to have a home again.
