St George's church in the Paddox area of Rugby is a striking example of postwar church architecture, having been built in 1961 by Denys Hinton Associates. The original 1930s building now serves as the church hall to which it is annexed by a porch. (this place holds memories for me, having grown up nearby and attended playschool at the church hall in 1976-7).

The interior is spacious and uncompromisingly modern, matching the simplicity of the exterior. The outstanding feature for me is the fine sculpted font by John Bridgeman, adorned with four stylised angel figures and standing in a watery mosaic, which extends through the glazing outdoors, from where the font uniquely also becomes a major feature externally..

St Margarets at Hunningham is one of Warwickshire's humbler medieval churches but is no less attractive for it,

The nave is 13th century with later medieval window openings and the chancel, in contrasting stone perhaps somewhat later, The Victorians added a north aisle (now screened off for parish rooms) but otherwise didn;t interfere too much, happily leaving the simple weatherboarded belfry alone..

The interior is simple too, the furnishings mostly Victorian and not much to distract the visitor for long and yet it has a certain charm and serenity, this is a very welcoming church that remains unlocked.

There is stained glass only in the east and west windows, the latter being a recent Millennial piece. The east window is a somewhat dull but finely painted piece by Frank Holt of Warwick, whilst by contrast the new west lancet contains a strikingly bold and simple composition in blue by local artist Roger Sargent.
