Nestled at the foot of Errigal (the hightest mountain in County Donegal) and overlooking the beautiful Poisoned Glen sits the beautiful 'Old Church of Dunlewey'.

Jane Smith Russell had the church built as a memorial to her husband, James Russell, landlord of the Dunlewey Estate, who died on 2nd September 1848

The church is built of white marble and blue quartzite which was quarried locally.

With the decline of the Dunlewey Estate the potential congregation diminished and the church was not in regular use. The expense of the upkeep and the passage of time added to the deterioration of the church. In 1955 the roof was removed as a safety measure.

Dunluce Castle is a now-ruined medieval castle in Northern Ireland, the seat of Clan MacDonnell. It is located on the edge of a basalt outcropping in County Antrim (between Portballintrae and Portrush), and is accessible via a bridge connecting it to the mainland.

The first castle to be built here was in the 13th century and is one of the most picturesque of Irish Castles. The present castle ruins date mainly from the 16th and 17th centuries, but more recently – while modified using CGI - is still instantly recognisable from the TV show Game of Thrones, It was used as Castle Greyjoy

The castle is surrounded by extremely steep drops on either side,

This beautiful avenue of beech trees was planted by the Stuart family in the eighteenth century.

It was intended as a compelling landscape feature to impress visitors as they approached the entrance to their Georgian mansion, Gracehill House. Two centuries later, the trees remain a magnificent sight and have become one of the most photographed natural phenomena in Northern Ireland. In fact, the iconic trees have been used as a filming location in the epic TV series Game of Thrones representing the Kingsroad.

Featured Scene: Season 2, Episode 1: The North Remembers - On the King's Road, Arya Stark has escaped from King’s Landing, disguised as a boy. She is with Yoren, Gendry, Hot Pie and others who are to join the Night’s Watch, in a cart, travelling north on the Kingsroad.

In 1811, the HMS Saldanha sank and 254 people died, the only survivor being the captain's parrot. After this tragedy, a lighthouse was built at Fannet Point as it was then known, and on St. Patrick’s Day 1817, the light was lit for the first time.

Fanad Lighthouse remains an iconic working lighthouse at the mouth of Lough Swilly. It has been voted one of the most beautiful lighthouses in the world. This stunning heritage building is the flagship visitor attraction of the Fanad peninsula, an area of outstanding natural beauty.
