Time to head back to Gent, following a day trip to Antwerp. The driver changed ends and had some problems which needed the attention of a fitter. Half an hour late we departed - seemed like the solution was to 'switch it off then back on again'. Seems to be needed for most electrical items these days........

Our first visit here, I'd read that the station was an impressive building and must say we both really liked it.

We saw plenty of freight trains in Belgium, but this was the only one that could be photographed. A bit 'son of bone' this diesel......ie class 58 lookalike.

Saturday lunchtime in the capital. Soon we would be boarding the Eurostar for our journey home.

The train that took us to Antwerp. Just up the line from here is Gent Dampoort yard, plenty of sidings filled with freight trains - coal, steel both coil and finished, oil and cars. An operational hump too!
