During our visit to Redcar and Teesport, this rolled by, an IEP coach that had arrived at the docks and was on its way to Newton Aycliffe where the new trains are being assembled.

66 551 makes its way over the Carlin Howe viaduct with 6F24 12.00 Boulby Mine to Middlesborough. The A174 road was re-aligned after the lines closure in 1963 but following the decision to open the mine at Boulby a new viaduct was constructed in the early 1970's. The new line from Brotton to Boulby was opened on 4 April 1974 and has served the mine ever since.

The shunter and driver deal with a fresh load of steel slabs for the works on the 6N40 from Tees yard.
At the end of the headshunt is Yorkshire Engine Company shunter, works number 2832.
