The West Highland line was closed for a few days for emergency engineering works. Add this to poor weather and a change of plan was needed for this days activities.
We started the day with an early morning trip by car from Dumbarton to Ayr to see the Grangemouth to Prestwick tanks in the pouring rain.
Next we decided to see plenty of Glasgow by rail, and took a day rover. One of our journeys was on the Cathcart Circle, the trains stop at nine stations with the round trip taking just over half an hour. One of the reasons for this was to take a ride on a class 314 unit, as the class is being withdrawn from service and scrapped.

Rob, Gavin, Bruce and Terry stop for a moment as we decide on our next move.
The next upload features the other end of the train, including a 314 unit in the 'other' livery which made up the back half of the train on the right.
As of September 2019, there are currently 7 of these trains left in service. These are 314203, 314209 and 314214 in blue saltire livery, 314202, 314205, 314210 and 314216 are in de-branded Strathclyde Partnership for Transport carmine and cream.
