A ten photo stack of a 4mm collembolan eating a slime mould/myxomycete fruiting body. It's an impossibly cute animal. Usually, it's hard to appreciate their six legged-ness, but here it's easy to see why having six legs provides them with extra stability. As you can see in the photo, the little guy has an aberrant eye, with only four ocelli, where there would normally be eight. This was taken in Cape Tribulation, in the wet tropics of Australia.
