The caverns are dated at least 200 million years. The caves are made entirely of limestone with different formations created over 1000's of years. A ashort ride on a catamaran across Shasta Lake, followed by a scenic bus ride up a steep mountain grade was fun for all us, although the steep stairs inside wasn't :(

This is a relatively unknown gem in Northern California. The falls were called "the Eighth Wonder of the World" by President Theodore Roosevelt, and were declared a National Natural Landmark in December 1984

Mount Bailey is a relatively young tephra cone and shield volcano in the Cascade Range, located on the opposite side of Diamond Lake from Mount Thielsen in southern Oregon, United States

Diamond Lake Resort has grown from a modest fishing lodge built in the 1920's. Its a nice place to stay and enjoy if you love fishing. For us it was just a lodge :)
