Des renforts américains débarquent à Easy Red, le 6 juin entre 11H30 et 12H30 du LCT-538. Parmi ces troupes, des sapeurs du 37th Engineer Combat Battalion de la 5th Engineer Special Brigade reconnaissables à l'arc blanc sur leur casque.
Sur Utah Beach, les sapeurs portaient aussi sur le casque un demi arc blanc, mais qui se prolongeait jusqu'au bord du casque. C'est un moyen de distinguer les plages Utah et Omaha.
Beaucoup d'hommes portent en plus de leur équipement personnel des outils de terrassement, des munitions ou du matériel.
L'homme à droite porte sur sa poitrine un masque à gaz d'assaut dans son sac de néoprène noir et une ceinture de flottaison autour de la taille
