The lava has got official name Fagradalshraun. It has now filled the area of Geldingadalir, the small walleys who are there no more
This eruption is small, compared - But still it is enormous to witness. It is close to the area with the most populaition in Iceland, but still in a place where it is almost impossible for the lava to damage towns or ifnfrastructures as it is in a clousure of some small walleys in the mountains. It is only few kilometers hike from the south coast road, but the mountain is steep, and I was pretty breathless when I finaly was op and to the edge over the walley.
I did not wait for the darkness - but I priced it on the way down the first and longest and steepest slope, having the rest of daylight with me.
But I will come again - and have more time.
