Yesterday, 7 November 2023, my daughter and I finally managed to get together for a drive out of the city. The previous three times we had planned to do this ended up having to be cancelled, either because of our first snowfall or COVID cases at the hospital where she works and obviously not wanting to take any risks by getting together.
Unfortunately, the weather yesterday was awful - very overcast and low light that made for photos that leave a lot to be desired. Inside and outside images, apart from this one, were all affected. So, sorry about the poor quality of today's uploads, but I wanted to post them for the record.
My daughter and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the Farm to start our day. Then we wandered around, checking out one of the greenhouses, where we watched all the bunnies feeding on fresh vegetables in their enclosure. We were fascinated by strange green 'things' that were hanging from a vine and looking rather like elongated gourds of some kind. Turned out they were louffas! Sure looked very different from how they look when they turn into the louffas you have in a bathroom. The other greenhouse had a good variety of plants, including two banana trees that had a couple of hanging bunches of green bananas. The banana flower is huge and most impressive.
From the Farm, we drove a little further south and then headed eastward. Not enough time to drive all that far as it was already around 1:30 pm (oops, no, 12:30 pm as I forgot about changing the time on my camera). A few things that we were happy to see, though, were a few old barns, old cars, an extremely distant Mule Deer near the horizon, and a beautiful Red Fox that gave us a challenge for photos. I have only ever seen a Red Fox a handful of times in all these years, so this was a real treat.
Despite the gloomy weather, we had an enjoyable few hours together. My favourite kind of day!
