Yesterday, 17 March 2023, was another day when all cars had to be removed from the parking lot for the day, so that all the snow and ice could be removed. For me, that meant I would need to do a drive out of the city to 'kill' several hours (ended up being 7 and a half hours). To put it mildly, I was not impressed at all when I returned home at 4:30 pm and found that it looked exactly like it was when I left home at 9:00 am! Same thing happened last time. This was the first time I had been out for a drive in about 5 weeks, since 12 February.

I decided that I would drive a few roads SW of the city and then do one of my usual drives further east. So much snow everywhere and I can't say I like driving on snowy/icy roads. The scenery was beautiful, though, as was the weather!

Apart from a few Horned Larks in several places and some Ravens feeding on a deer that must have been roadkill, I didn't see any other wildlife. A few red barns were so welcome against the snowy landscape.

I think I'm right when I say that the little splash of yellow on the truck is a hay bale (or two), and not the paint colour of the vehicle.

I saw several Horned Larks at different locations yesterday. Unable to get a photo. Then, later in the day, this one landed on a fence post and stayed long enough for a handful of shots. Wish the light had been better. I also took - or so I thought - some video of it singing so beautifully. Occasionally, when I take video, I guess I'm not careful enough and the camera stops filming. I wasn't sure if that had happened till I got home. Disappointing.
