The day before yesterday, on 10 April 2023, I went for a short drive SW of the city. The forecast turned out to be not as good as I had read, with a few raindrops and rather gloomy.
Unusual for me, I felt rather uninspired the further I drove without seeing anything, especially to photograph. I did see an American Robin high up in a tree in a tangle of branches. Also think I may have had a glimpse of a Red-winged Blackbird and a female Mountain Bluebird. Luckily, I don't keep an annual bird list and I am not someone who wants to see first-of-the-year sightings as early as possible (and before anyone else, ha), so there is no stress when I have an almost birdless outing. Sooner or later, I will most likely see the birds I enjoy seeing. Meanwhile, thank goodness, I can dig into my archives, which I will be doing yet again next time I post.
Three familiar old barns were welcome as always. Also, it's the time of year when there are lots of new calves in some of the fields. So cute to see.
