Yesterday, 5 December 2023, I spent a few special hours with my daughter for an early 'Christmas' get-together. As we usually do, we went to the Saskatoon Farm for a delicious and very filling breakfast and then we did a quick drive, hoping that we might just be lucky enough to find our first Snowy Owl of the season. No luck this time, but there is plenty of time to do more searches before they return home up north.
The weather was so strange! Five days into December and the temperature rose to 17C! No snow on the ground, either. Strong wind which made things a little unpleasant, and the light was gloomy and not good for photos. Normally, it would be much colder by this date and there would be a good covering of snow everywhere. Back to winter weather tonight and tomorrow, though, with a Snowfall Warning in effect right now.
