Mitrospingus cassinii cassinii
Río Palenque, Los Ríos province, Ecuador.
Found in lowland rainforest from Costa Rica to western Ecuador. They move through the understory in nervous, chattering flocks. The AOU recently transferred this species, along with a few others, to the family Mitrospingidae, based on research by Barker et. al. click here for more info and the full reference.
