Mount Nuptse is a mountain in the Himalayas of Nepal, located near Mount Everest and Lhotse. It stands at 7,861 meters (25,791 feet) tall. Nuptse means "West Peak" in Tibetan, as it lies west of Everest. Though not as famous as Everest, it has steep, challenging slopes and is difficult to climb. The first successful ascent was in 1961 by a British expedition. It offers stunning views, especially from Lobuche, on the way to the Everest Base Camp, Nepal
