Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the flowers gone?
Girls have picked them every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the young girls gone?
Taken husbands every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the young men gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the young men gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the young men gone?
Gone for soldiers every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Gone to graveyards every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the graveyards gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Covered with flowers every one
When will we ever learn?
When will we ever learn?

Height: 30mm.

Fongshihye, the Gods of the Wind, are a unique feature of Kinmen. These are mostly small lion-like statues made of clay or stone. Kinmen's harsh windswept climate, especially in winter, makes agriculture and life difficult. In the late-Ming, early-Cing Dynasties, local people began installing Fongshihye in the villages, believing that they would protect the villagers from Kinmen's windy climate. Over time the statues gradually took on a more general protective function, warding off evil spirits, bad luck and ailments. When you visit Kinmen, you'll notice many different styles of Fongshihye standing at village entrances, beside the roads and at residences.

Hard to see the light now
Just don't let it go
Things will come out right now
We can make it so
Someone is on your side
No one is alone

"No One Is Alone" by Stephen Sondheim
