On April 8, 2024, parts of North America will experience a total solar eclipse.
In Toronto, this will be visible as a partial eclipse. At the eclipse's peak, over 99% of the Sun's light will be obscured.
In some other Ontario cities, including Hamilton, Kingston and Niagara Falls, a total solar eclipse will occur. Total coverage of the Sun's light will last for several minutes. The last total solar eclipse visible in Ontario was in 1979 - and the next one will happen in 2099!
