I invested at least 5/- of my pocket money on these when we went to the Montagu Motor Museum in the 1960s, way before the 'new' museum building was thought of and before it became 'The National Motor Museum'. The old timber and glass buildings were fine at the time but as the collection grew were soon full-up.

Possibly the earliest postcard of the Montagu Motor Museum. 25 cars were placed in these two sheds which were very soon outgrown and by 1959 the new museum buildings were being built next door to these.

In the foreground is the rear of the two 1956 built sheds which held 25 cars when the collection got too big for Palace House. As soon as they were built plans had to be put in place for new buildings to contain the ever increasing transport collection, three years later the glass fronted buildings housed the majority of the cars. nothing remains of the museum as I remember it. the back of Palace House has now been returned to gardens.

I visited the museum in the 1960s and remember the cars lined up in the green-houses but don't remember the outside displays that they had at the time
