A design proposal for the Torpedo. This illustration was published in Science Illustrated, Dec., 1946, along with the b&w illustration of a 3/4 rear view of this same design that someone has already posted to this site. Unlike the final "production" design of the "48", this one was a 2-door with wrapover rear glass.

This is similar to another design proposal I uploaded earlier, but this one features swiveling front fenders and "center steering". Rear engine mounting was always part of the plan, right from the start.

Automotive News published this photo in the Dec. 10, 1945 issue. The article also mentioned disk brakes, cruising at 100 MPH, a top speed of 130 MPH, and of course the Cyclops Eye center light and headlights in the front fenders that all turned with the wheels.

Artists' illustrations of early Tucker design proposals were published in several 1946 magazines before the design of the Tucker 48 was finalized. This one's front fenders incorporated headlights that turned as the front wheels turned, as did the center "Cyclops Eye".
