This car was sold as the Herald, in one version or another, from 1959 to 1971. This "1200" version was available from 1961 to 1968. The Herald name was not mentioned in this ad. A two-door fixed top coupe was also available.

It probably goes without saying that this strange-looking little car was not a success. It was made from 1951 to 1953, including a handful of drophead coupes (convertibles).

When one thinks of Triumph, the TR series of sports cars usually comes to mind. But here's a different kind of Triumph. The unorthodox body topped a totally independent suspension chassis and a 2997 cc DOHC V-8 of 145 hp. Top speed was claimed to be 115 MPH. These are collector's items today.

I've never been clear as to what the 30th anniversary commemorated, but I assume it must be the "TR" series of sports cars, certainly not the TR7 specifically.

The V-8 version of this car (renamed TR8) finally arrived in 1980, but it was too late. Most of them were shipped to the U.S., but the end was near. The last of the Triumph TRs was built in 1981.
