In 1916, Escadrille LaFayette was formed with 42 pilots,only 4 of them being French. To celebrate, Mirage 2000N 316 of EC 2/4 was painted in a special way.
The EC 2 / 4 La Fayette was established on 1 July 1947 by taking over the traditions of the Fighter Group 2 / 5 La Fayette, itself successor (among others) of the Escadrille La Fayette made up of American volunteers in 1916
