The one thing I was looking forward to during my California trip for the holidays was the CA-1 coastal drive (next to the seascapes in San Diego, of course). I drove down from SFO to LA along the CA-1, but wasn't too happy that I had only alloted one day to drive down. That meant I would see most of the coast during the harsh mid-day sun - not exactly very conducive for photos. I put my newly acquired Singh-Ray warming LB polarizer though its paces (don't ask me where I'm getting the money for all this from - I'm completely broke now) - managed to save some shots from the sun when it wasn't directly overhead (I've not decided if I like the warming effect or not)

I was super happy to find the golden light make for some lovely photos of these grassy hills along the California-1 coastal highway. This was someplace near San Simeon (I think).

Decided to experiment with drop shadows after seeing them on Arun's stream. I liked the look of them and decided to try it out and see how it looks too. Thoughts?

While in San Diego, I decided to hit up Arun. I've been in awe of his stream ever since he was producing stunners with a little canon P&S. He has since then moved on to DSLRs and we're now FF buddies too (too bad he stuck with his original mistake - a Canon :P... But we're friends despite that!)
Like Arun mentions, we finally met, having known each other online for over 2 years. Of course I had to drag him to show me where he churns out one masterpiece after another of the lovely seascapes. It was a delight to meet and shoot with him - I look forward to more photo adventures with him!
Thanks to him - my first seascapes shot.
whee!
