From the Petersen display card: ...the one-off Plymouth Explorer was built by Carrozzeria Ghia of Turin, Italy. Designed to gauge reception to new styling ideas, its hand built coachwork was distinguished by sculpted countours and accentuated by white horizontal spears built into it's sides. Its jet-inspired exhaust pipes...were incorporated into the tail light pods. Special features included leather upholstery, fitted luggage, and radio controls concealed by an opening panel on the dashboard.

I was born in 1953. The cars on the road didn't look like this!
