Ballyfermot and Inchicore Credit Union 1963 – 2023
Ballyfermot Credit Union was set up in March 1963 by a group of dedicated volunteers in a room in the De La Salle School. They started off with shares of £0-17/6 their first loans was given out in 1964 to the public which was a total of £18,818, for that year.
On the 14 July 2017 the members of Ballyfermot Credit Union voted to join forces with Inchicore Credit Union. Today Ballyfermot and Inchicore Credit Union has 18,000 members and assets of €86 million. It is a credit to the volunteers and employees down the years for the work they put in for the people of Ballyfermot and Inchicore.
