The Lord Mayor of ballfermot so good he was elected twice
This beautiful soul from kylemore drive who walked around ballyer in his strive
Would always stop and say hello to even strangers he didn't know
An ordinary man to me and you he had a sad early life that none of us knew
In industrial schools? He suffered too he commited no crime there's no crime in this mans name he and his sister were sent to artane.
There were terrible tragedys that this man had to bear the loss of his mother was some cross to bear she was taken too early as she crossed kylemore rd
Then john was minded by his his brother joe any great baller was up the dubs joe
John loved helping the great Larry Quinn when he called to our houses to collect the slop for Larry the waste man
The mighty bob and floss pulled Larrys cart with john at the reins he steered them so smart
He deliver the catholic standard too a holy newspaper to all that he knew
He collected turf for the old folk too with his cart they were heavy loads too
Lally rd is where he would go with his dockets to the turf depot
In 🍒 cherryorchard he had a wee job where he made chocolate to earn a few bob
And believe me all this all true because john was decent and he slipped me a few
He'd drop into the county bar to say hello to me for his bottle of club orange 🍊And his big glass of ☕️ tea
One of the nicest men that I've ever met the world champion of cadging a cigarette
The taxis the busmen and the gallant poilice men
All new John Nolan in ballyer back then
His fAvorite song with his lungs did roar ''twas the holy ground once more
So here's to john Nolan a man I once knew it was such a great pleasure in life to meet
Your a true ballyer legend who's name is well known
You'll always be a ballyer you'll never walk alone
Your flying with the angels with your mum joe and sis
