Tribute Paid to Art O Neill by Mary Farrell on the 16 September 2020 - Mary Farrell - I Am very sad to share the news today that our dear friend Art O'Briain passed away last night. Art was a teacher in Ballyfermot Vocational School in the early 1970s. Along with Roddy Day he founded the Ballyfermot Community Arts Workshop, the first of its kind in Ireland which involved large numbers of children and senior citizens in social and artistic activities. Art produced the film 'Down the Corner', a film based on the story written by Noel Mc Farlane. This was a unique community film in which Liam Weldon featured along with many young people and adults (all amateurs) from Ballyfermot. He was among the founder members of Gaelscoil Inse Chóir. Many Ballyfermot children attended GSIC throughout the years. Sincere condolences to Nuala, Oisín and Eoin and to his extended family.
