Dinny Meredith Ballyfermot Road. - Hi Ken, last June 2022 I drove a truck with 24 ton of aid to Warsaw in Poland. The load consisted mainly of food (24 pallets) plus sanitiser, adult nappies, PPE material and medical scrub suits. I fundraised to pay for diesel, tolls etc. Since then I have sent 3 more loads over, one was via Jim Kavanagh a volunteer with the Chernobyl charity and the other two by container (another 70 pallets of food) in total funds raised was approx €8,000.

Now the reason I'm contacting you is to see is there any way in Ballyfermot that my Friend Liam (Gonzo) Mallen from Le Fanu road could get some public recognition for his part in the fundraising for the transporting of these loads, without his huge efforts and input the 3 loads would not have got to those very needy people in Warsaw and Ukraine itself. Gonzo collected over half the money needed and had no hesitation in doing so. He received thank you certs from the charity in Warsaw and Ukraine but I feel he ought to be acknowledged for his part in this very worthy cause locally and I thought you might be the man with some sort of idea how this could be possible.
