Alice Fallon - Lived on Landen and my sister Kathleen ( Kay ) who was 6 years old and myself 7 years old got the bus on Garryowen Road to go to Whitefriar street until the Dominican Convent was built, approx 1952 or 1953. We were the first into the new school, and the first class for first Communion. We both made our Communion together in the new School. When I get the smell of tar or bitumen it brings me right back. We lived in 250 Landen and we were early residents of Ballyfermot.

Helen Byrne - My mother went to that school. She lived in Erne St so that was the nearest school. She had a teacher called Sr. Boramayo.(can't spell that). She was a brilliant teacher. They even did science and she was in primary school.

This was a fairly big church Ken if memory serves with kids from Other schools , the boys walked from the side aisle and met with a girl from the opposite aisle, and then both turned and walked towards the alter the boys sitting on the left and the girls in the right

Maura Dillon Harmon 1955 - 1959 - I went to Baggot Street School Ken. Maura Dillon from Thomond Road and Blackditch Rd. My memory is Miss Wall. A very stern teacher also Sr. Xavier had a few run ins with her.

Maura Dillon Harmon 1955 - 1959 - Ken I was on the School around the Corner with Paddy Crosby in Baggot St. Can't remember the year but it was on the radio and it was so exciting. My photo was in the Herald. Got 10shillings and sweets. Must try find the photo. It was like Irelands Got Talent. We had to sing. My song was....How much is that doggie in the Window.

I made my Communion in St Andrew’s, Westland Row, (1962, I think) where, only last month, I sang “Messiah” by Handel, with the Dublin Bach Singers.
I don’t think I have pictures, but will check in my attic.

Louise Byrne - From 1961 until I was fourteen I lived on lally Road I always remember the ecer as we all called him a lovely man. My first teacher was old but before class we had to recite the proclamation and stand, Mrs Woods was my hero she understood everything child ,my older siblings also went there from the fifties

Delighted that Bob and Margaret Lattimore called in to say hello and share their memories of Ballyfermot in 1948 while home on a holiday from the UK this afternoon . Bob family moved in to number 63 Decies Road from Lad Lane in 1948. and Margaret family moved from Pembroke Road to Landen Road in 1948. Bob went to St Michaels School Inchicore and Margaret got the Bus into Whitefriar Street School. Bob and Margaret met while Margaret was helping her mother with the Buy a Brick for Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Margaret Family emigrated to the UK in 1958 soon to be followed by Bob in 1959.
