While my work commute in Rome will soon be coming to an end, the trips between Lenola and Rome will be increasing. So I thought I would create an album for things I see along the road. Of course, I have to be travelling alone. No one tolerates my driving now, just imagine if I start stopping every 5 minutes.
Here we are on the famous Appia, the road that the Ancient Romans built to connect Rome with Lenola.

The "Mausoleum of Clesippo" was built in I° Sec. B.C. Attributed to Clesippo Geganio. According to the legend, he was slave who was freed by his mistress because of his skill as a lover. He became wealthy and built this monument in memory of his benefactress.
The marble from here can easily be found in some of the nearby buildings, like the country house built by Pope Pio VI.
