Sanctuary before it was redesigned. Miriam's Stained Glass windows in original position. Old monastic tabernacle, sunken floored sanctuary. Simple steel tube altar painted red.
Red was regarded as an asian colour and traditionally painting of external timber etc in Broome was done in red and/or what was known as "Streeters'" Green. The floor is the original tiled flor. The seating is contemporary chairs. In its traditional design the seating was in the form of block cushions - symbolic of sitting around the campfire or waterhole. G1X0287
