Built on land donated by Gerald Parker and financed by further sub division of the land, the church was constructed of local timber from Newell's sawmill in Uki. the foundation stone was laid by Bishop Carroll on 9th June 1911.

A priest's room in the apse allowed the priest to stay overnight in the days before motor cars. Mass was held fortnightly with Confession and Benediction the Saturday night before.

The first baptism was Vincent Thomas Columbil O'Neill on 25th Aug 1912. The first wedding was William Mills and May Askew 10th Aug 1920. Four generations of this family have been married in the church, the latest in 2001.

The church filled a social as well as a spiritual need for Catholics scattered through the valleys of the South Arm of the Tweed River. After Mass the men would cross to the Hotel by a path called the Duck Track, while the women caught up on local happenings.

Between 1923 and 1931 the Sisters of St Josephs held their classes in the back of the church until a school, later removed, was built.

The Presbyterian church first opened a church in the main street of Kyogle in 1903. Being one of the earliest church's in Kyogle it was also use by the Anglican domination until they built their own church. This timber church was subsequently moved to the present lot in Groom Street. A Presbyterian Church committee was formed to negotiate the building of a new Church in 1937 and the foundation stone of the present St Andrews building was laid in March 1939, by Mrs W. J. Irwin whose husband made a bequest to form a nucleus of the new church fund. The Church was erected in 1939 being built by Mr G. Grove at a cost of £3,528. Mr Finlay Munro was responsible for preparing the design. The building was officially opened and dedicated in December 1939 by the then Moderator, the Rev A. D. Marchant BA BD.

The decision to build a Masonic Lodge was taken in 1905 and blocks 100 and 101 were purchased in Groom Street. The Masonic Temple was completed by 1906. It was built by Morrie Powell from Geneva. This organisation appears to have had considerable wealth and optimism at that time.

The first School of the Arts was removed to New Park and replaced by a second building in 1910. The second building had accommodation for 600 people, also reading rooms, library and other conveniences. It was later used for travelling picture shows which used electric lights during performances. Permanent lights were provided by the Kyogle Dairy Company for the School of the Arts in 1916. Their plant also powered the first electric street light in Kyogle on the corner of the Main Street and Stratheden Street which was erected at the request of the Tourist Bureau in 1918. A 30 foot brick addition was commenced to the School of the Arts in 1920 and opened in 1922.

Unfortunately the School of Arts burnt down in the fire of 1931 and was replaced by the current Kyogle Memorial Institute in 1932, so named to perpetuate the School of the Arts and the Soldiers Memorial Club which had been located there. The Memorial Institute was sold to Kyogle Council in 1937 by the Institute members. The building included a picture theatre (with a projector), which was used for concerts during the war, fund raising for the Girl's Patriotic League, wrestling, boxing, dances and other events.

In 2008 - 2009 beneath the Stratheden Street verandah Saturday Farmers markets are held.
