An annular eclipse of the Sun, as seen from Madrid, Spain, in 2005.
Images were all taken using a Canon 10D with a 300mm Canon lens with Baader film to prevent holes being burned through the back of the camera. The colour balance has been changed to make it look more yellow and less purple!
I actually used a standard tripod, and kept moving the camera every 5 minutes or so to keep up with the rotation of the Earth. I wrote a program using IDL, to align all the images.
The actual eclipse lasted about 2 hours.
