Lou Brock and Matty Alou in the on-deck circle at parc Jarry ... In the early 1970s, before Toronto had the Blue Jays, Montreal Expos were the Canadian team ... a small Toronto travel company used to run weekend trips to Expos games ... the cost was something like $35 ... it covered the bus there and back, a night in a motel, and tickets to games on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon ... on this occasion there was an extra game because the Saturday date was a double header ... the Cardinals were my team since the mid-60s but the Expos were a close second ... but the Cardinals got there first ... so I was quite excited ... excited as a 17-year old can be ... and it was, if I recall, the first time I'd seen major league baseball live.
