This was a crisp, cold January morning and the light at Spurn Point was excellent. Much of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire had been affected by heavy snow on this day and I was fortunate to make it to Spurn (and fortunate to make it back to Nottingham as more snow had fallen inland while I enjoyed sunshine on the coast).

A fabulously clear but very cold morning at Spurn Point at the beginning of 2010. Most of the shots I took on this morning were using Velvia but this was one of the few digital shots.

I'd been meaning to get round to working on this shot for several months now. Spurn Point has a fascinating array of groynes that have clearly seen better days.

Snow on the coast is usually rare so I saw this as an opportunity. I was lucky that the sky had a stormy feel to it as this contrasts with the bright snow in the warm, low afternoon sun.
