I composed this shot on my way back from Southwold to Nottingham via the Norfolk Coast (not the quickest route but definitely the most scenic). It took me all day to get back home because I kept stumbling over compelling scenes such as this. My intention with this shot was to have the main focal point of interest in the top third of the image and the bottom section to be filled with the swaying reed beds.

Just arrived back from a few days at Caister-On-Sea in Norfolk. Of the 3 mornings I went out to take photographs, all had superb lighting conditions. Stood in the sea with my wellies, I wanted to include as much cloud as possible, as it was beginning to take on an interesting pattern. As is often the case when photographing sunrises and sunsets, the good quality light didn't last long and I was glad to get this one in the bag!

I was driving through the small village of Lessingham on my way to Happisburgh when I caught a glimpse of this scene as I sped past a farmer's gate. I immediately parked my car and set about making a composition of the misty scene in front of me. It just goes to show that although we often have a plan in our heads when we go out to make photographs, we should always be on the lookout for opportunistic moments.

This image was taken from the breakwater rocks at Caister. I had scrambled across the rocks in order to achieve a more dynamic foreground, but what I hadn't realised in the 20 minutes or so that I'd been sat on these rocks, was that the tide had come in further than I'd expected! Luckily I managed a big leap at the right moment and got back to terra firma. I don't think I'll ever learn though!

With the sun begiinning to fade behing increasing cloud cover, I was presented with a situation where I could achieve a long exposure, yet still pick up enough warmth from the sun to highlight these textures in the break water rocks.
