I rescued this image from a session that was so nearly aborted earlier than it should have been. Using my zoom at 185mm enabled me to compress the perspective and emphasise the light and shadow. I cropped the image as I felt this worked better than the original landscape format.

I had already rushed to the edge of the outer harbour earlier on to make the most of the breaking dawn. Following the golden hour, I concentrated on photographing details and reflections in the harbour area.

When it snows in Beeston you have to make the most of it because it might only happen once in a year; and so it proved when there was a significant covering overnight between 16th-17th January 2016. The way the snow clung to tree branches appeared particularly attractive, so I made a number of images with my zoom in order to pull together this feature of the landscape. The snow had melted away by mid morning.

During the winter months it is possible to wake up at a reasonable time and still be able to drive to the East Yorkshire Coast from Nottingham in time for sunrise. I've photographed these groynes on the North Beach many times, yet every sunrise is unique, so I will probably continue to keep going back well into the future.

A rare family walk landscape image. I made my way closer to the water’s edge in order to find this composition. I wanted a clean balance in the composition, without foreground vegetation.
